Don’t Practice Until You Get It Right… Practice Until You Can’t Get It Wrong.

Many people believe practice ends when they finally perform a technique correctly once.

It doesn’t.

Anyone can get something right once. Under ideal conditions, with enough concentration and no pressure, almost everyone can execute a technique correctly.

The real question is:

Can you do it when you’re tired?

When you’re surprised?

When you’re under stress?

When someone is resisting?

The purpose of practice isn’t simply to produce a correct repetition. The purpose is to build a movement so deeply into your body that it becomes your trained response.

That’s why we say:

Don’t practice until you get it right. Practice until you can’t get it wrong.

Every correct repetition strengthens the neural pathways behind that movement. Every careless repetition strengthens bad habits just as effectively.

Quality matters.

Slow enough to be correct.

Focused enough to be intentional.

Repeated enough to become automatic.

In self-defense, there isn’t time to think through every step. Your body will do what it has practiced, not what it wishes it had practiced.

Train until the response no longer requires conscious thought.

Train until correct movement is your default.

Train until you can’t do it wrong.

Because under pressure, you won’t rise to the occasion…

You’ll fall to the level of your training.
